Please add WMS for Italy.

Hello and thanks for this IMPRESSIVE program.

The only thing I miss from it is to fetch (and cache) maps from the Italian Geoportal, that is: http://www.pcn.minambiente.it/GN/
The most important WMS is IGM 25: http://wms.pcn.minambiente.it/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map=/ms_ogc/service/igm25_f33.map

Being able to load those maps for Italy would greatly improve the program's appealing to italian audience. Just for your information, backcountry navigator features it. That is the ONLY "pros" of that app versus Oruxmaps.
If adding those maps can be added as a pay-per-feature, I would gladly donate for it. Thanks so much!

There are more information about wms in current manual.

But that wms does not support EPSG:4326, OruxMaps still can not use that wms as online source.

First, MANY thanks for your post, for sharing your knowledge and your time.

I tried the topographic map for Italy with QLandKarteGT: nice! I can't only understand why the map is drawn in LIGHT PURPLE rather than in black as I am used to see that map source. Quite odd.

Now, is it possible to export maps from QLandKarteGT to Orux format? Sorry for the lame question, but I'm still pretty new into this world.

No it ist not possible to export maps from Qlandkarte to Orux. But it is possible to add italy-wms to Orux.

Hello dear, sorry for the late reply.

I tested the released version after its release but I failed. I read in another thread that there was a bug, and that it has been fixed. Still, I get the "Error reading WMS capabilities" error. Maybe my link is wrong. I'll triple check it.

But this points me to another in my opinion very useful feature that it could be added:
the ability to open links into the map creator (I mean, when browsing the Internet). Click (long press) -> open with -> oruxmaps.

I just realized that indeed the latest feature request is pretty trivial, as it's just a matter of copying and pasting a link.

As I just did, and despite that, I can't manage it to work.

Being this thread the very first result while googling for oruxmaps and italy, I would like to share the solution here too.

That is pretty simple: just use the last link, that is:

http://wms.pcn.minambiente.it/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map=/ms_ogc/service/igm25.map

while paying attention to pick 13 as the smaller zoom level. Below that, you will only get the watermarks (and you will bang your head against the closest wall for a while trying to realize what's going on).

That's it. Thumbs up for Oruxmaps and per il ministero anche se ci mette il watermark dappertutto
