Don't lock screeen, but dimm /switch off screen after some 30s ... 1min
Using Oruxmaps as a cycle computer I miss the following setting:
Don't lock the screen, but switch off backlight (and maybe even stop moving map / cursor to save energy)
Maybe I just didn't found this setting. Currently I have the option that screen is on all time (but the battery doesn't like this) or screen will locked. It's quite hard to press the on my Android the Power Button and do the unlock slide during a trip. Just tap the screen (or if phone is in a bag during hiking - press a button) would helpfull.
Thanks for this great tool
Best regards

Hi, below 'always on' option, you can select the type of lock:
--full brightness
--dimmed
I think is what you need.

Re: Don't lock screeen, but dimm /switch off screen after some 30s ... 1min
That's only almost what I missed!
The screen should switched off completly, as dimming doesn't save enough power. Maybe there can be a 3rd option to switch off backlight completly.
To my other suggestions
- does stop moving the map in dimmed mode save some power ?
- wake up with a key instead of touch the screen if phone is in a kind of bag - do you think this make sense?

Re: Don't lock screeen, but dimm /switch off screen after some 30s ... 1min
Hi,
I use the application "No Lock" from the market - No Lock .
This allows the phone to lock in the normal way but you can wake it up using just one press of any of the hardware buttons. I find this very useful when the phone is mounted on the handlebars but it could be dangerous if in a bag as you could easily press a button by mistake.
Hope this helps,
Alastair

Thanks Alastair, thats a nice solution for the hardwarebutton issue. I just installed it!
Nevertheless - for bicycling a wake-up with just a touch on the screen might be useful.

Re: Don't lock screeen, but dimm /switch off screen after some 30s ... 1min
Hi,
I must say this would be a great feature indeed. Just to explain my case...
When trying to follow routes, the battery has to last long enough. Riding on a MTB track this means working with a locked screen, that is, trying to press the hardware home button (which is a precise location when on a bumpy road). Next I have to try and swipe to unlock the screen. It is not easy and it takes time to finally see where you need to be heading.
What I suggest is in line with the FP, an option to prevent locking of the screen but allow the screen to completely dim to black (full screen layer in black color and zero brightness?). With a touch anywhere on the screen the app would show normal again. This would allow fast response and doesn't consume too much battery. The no lock is almost good. The problem is that you have to aim for the home button
No problem to throw in an extra donation for this

Re: Don't lock screeen, but dimm /switch off screen after some 30s ... 1min
I'd like to see this option too. I use a Galaxy S2 with Amoled screen so the only way to really save power is to turn the screen off completely. Having an option to turn the screen off and not lock the phone would be good.
As a work around I use the Tasker app and have set up a profile which prevents the phone from locking while my HRM is connected via bluetooth. That way if I loose my phone while riding it will autolock once the HRM is no longer connected (out of range).

Just push this again.
I disabled the lock screen, but still need a button to reanimate the screen.
Please add this option to keep app active but switch off backlight (until a touch on the screen)
Thank you!
