I can't still get the hang out of it about loading italian WMS', but I am starting to think that it could be an issue of the WMS source itself rather than Orux's.

I want to add some tips to improve the WMS creator feature, though.

First: if the URL pasted in the box contains "http://" already, just strip it out. Normally I came from a browser where I copy the URL, then I go to Orux creator and paste into the URL text box. After that, I have to manually go to the beginning of the line and remove the first characters, since orux provide them itself and they would be duplicated then. Since most of the users (as far as I can imagine) would copy and paste URLs like that, it would be probably more handy if Orux could strip that part or just expect for a full URL without prefixing it with the extra "http://".

Second: to test the WMS, it would come handy if Orux would use the current GPS location, or, if not available, the latest GPX fix found.
That way one could test a region that realistically knows a bit about (or he's in that very point in that very moment). Elsewhere, one can always replace it with the coordinates he/she prefers.

is there any reason why there are so few services working with orux. even so prominent services like the NASA-WMS does not show up.

A year or 2 ago you could get France IGN maps using a simple WMS.

Now you have to make a login on this website: http://api.ign.fr/moncompte/login
Then click obtenir votre clef in topright corner.
There are a few options (WEB, MOBILE, SIG) and if you choose Mobile, android, one of the links you get is this:

WMS raster (geoportail)
http://gpp3-wxs.ign.fr/xxxxxxxxyour keyxxxxxxxxxxx/geoportail/r/wms?SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0&REQUEST=GetCapabilities

Then you get a million layers but if you scroll to the bottom you will see 9 "Cartes IGN" layers.
I tried all of them together and one at a time, at different zoom levels but I could not get it to work.

Maybe I missed something simple since I do not speak much French. Could anyone help me with this please?
I am sure many others are also interested since I have seen some very long methods of getting these maps in Oruxmaps.

Oruxmaps sees 06 France Cartes but on the map I only see blue with the loading thing.

Hello !
I have no idea for this problem.
In my phone, all maps are working perfectly (I have tried one more time today).
Maybe you are not exactly above France but in the deep ocean ?
To be sure, first try with Google Maps or something else at level 4 or 5 and then with France maps.

I tried that wms service and it works - however none of the layers I tried do so far was anywhere close to a topgraphic map.

What layers should be selected, or what else I could be doing wrong?

I have tried url with and with out ?-query part, both ways it returns map image (layer selected is "cells") with when pressing TEST button and selected zoom level 10.

However, when saving wms and testing  it no map images are shown. If I go back and edit added wms, layer selections are empty?

Any ideas how to fix this? If you like to test this, plese use lat/lon as 61.4297/21.8691
