first of all, muchas gracias for this great application!

I have some questions about the direct download of the OruxMaps APK file. Since I do not have a market installed on my phone, I install apps on my phone through my PC over USB using the Android ADB.

1.
Do you plan to continue to offer the APK files on the OruxMaps website in the future?

2.
Is the latest downloadable version always one version behind the current version?

3.
If you answer 2.) with yes, why don't you also offer the current version for download through your website?

I have same interrests like "fallout33". I have no market and google account and don't want that. But I am irritated that the newest version of oruxmaps could be only get via market. Why? Hope this changes somewhere (soon).

I have the same issue for a cheap Chinese tablet I own using a Bluetooth GPS. OruxMaps doesn't appear in either Google Play or Android Market. There are some work-arounds -

1. Market Fix -

2. Fake Device Fingerprint -
You need to change the line in the build.prop file to a device that supports OruxMaps -

For me, the device that works fine is as follows -

ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-I9000/GT-I9000/GT-I9000:2.2/FROYO/XXJPM:user/release-keys

3. Alternately, you could also download the latest version .apk direct from Google Play using a Chrome plugin -

@Icarus: Fine if it works for you and if that is a legal way.

My android has no network or gsm connection. I have no google/market account and don't want that at any time. So I have to get the apk file with a seperate computer and and save it on the sd-card of my android to install. There is no other way. Mostly all developers of apps for android, from where I liked to get some app, sent my there app via email or has them downloadable on there website. Only one percent of developes work straight proprietary and ignore such users like me. And there are a lot of users like me. Hope oruxmaps developer do not think so and whish all (!!!) users to have a chance to use the newest oruxmaps version.
