QGIS plugin for export to Orux: is it possible?
Hi everyone,
recently I've been experimenting a bit with Quantum GIS (http://www.qgis.org/) and how it can be used for creating maps for Orux from different sources.
Quantum GIS is a full featured GIS software that offers endless possibilities for working with vector and raster sources - online and local - and support for all coordinate systems you can think of (well, at least all I can think of).
Now I found a plugin for generating raster tiles from QGIS projects corresponding to Slippy Map specification ( http://hub.qgis.org/projects/qtiles , http://gis-lab.info/qa/qtiles-eng.html ). I am not a coder (!) but from my limited understanding of software, I think, that it should be quite easy, to modify this plugin, so it exports the tiles to an OruxMaps DB, and this sounds to me like something very close to the holy grail of atlas creation.
So what do you think about this? Is it possible?
Thanks for all your work!

I think it will be easier to add support for this format maps (slippy-map).febs wrote:I would give a pint of blood for that.
If you send me a test map -> oruxuro@gmail.com I can try.

I really misunderstood the topic and I sent you a Geotiff made in QGIS.
I re-read this topic only today and I realized that you were talking something different. Sorry!
I am going to play around with that kind of map and I'll share it. Thanks

Haven't looked at this forum for a while, because I thought the topic was dead. Glad to see, that others like the idea!
