Garmin NT .img / .gmp files

Apologies if this is already in the forum - i searched but could not find anything specific to Garmin NT format.

Should OruxMaps be able to load a Garmin NT format .img / .gmp file? I can select the file to load and I get no error message but I just get a white rectangle where the map should be. I have tried opening in GPSMapEdit to see if it is problem with the file and it says that the .gmp within the .img file "is in NT format which is not supported by GPSMapEdit".
