Converting a Garmin map

I have a map that I created for Garmin receivers. It works well with OruxMaps except the labels overwhelm the map. The yellow background of the labels really makes them standout and there are lots of them. Label visibility doesn't respond to TYP file settings and disabling them by class in the settings removes labels that need to display.

Is it possible to convert the source vector file(plain text MP) to a format that that can be better managed for using OruxMaps?
