Programmable physical key to change screen mode or save waypoint

During my mountain bike rides I find it very difficult and inconvenient switch between MAP and TRIP COMPUTER.
Is it possible to schedule a physical key in Android smartphone (such as the camera, for example) to change function like the viewing screen mode or, (equally useful) to save a waypoint (maybe with voice commentary) at the point where we are?
