Creation of custom POI types

Hello Orux,

First thanks for this awesome application, I come from the Garmin GPS world and I find it better.. There is one thing that I can not find is the ability to create new custom type of POI, so it would be possible to add such POI as :

- gap
- lake
- etc...

One list of different types / subtypes could be :

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/POI_Types


And associate a small icon to the new type, then add lots of those POI into the orux POI db.

One question, Can Oruxmaps handle thousands of POI ?

Hi,

oruxmaps has a lot of good functions and a very good map-management.

What I`m missing is the integration of own pois with own icons (eg. sights, shops, campingplaces etc), show on the map and with a personal search function.

Could this be available in the future ?

Thx for this new item. Can you give us a short "how to" importing the waypoint list:
I wrote the waypoint-name in the customwpts.txt and a same named png in the folder. Where to do the folder with the wpts and which format (gpx, kml eg.) ?

can this handle some thousend wpts and show them on map ?

I notice, that its not possible in the moment, to integrate usual poi-lists into oruxmaps.
Could this be a feature in next time ? I appriciate oruxmaps very much and want to use is furthermore and a poi-feature cuold give the additional information which is individually needed.
