Offline bicyle routes with brouter
Last weekend I stumbled upon a tiny tool for offline routing on android devices with OSM maps: brouter.
Origianally developed for OSMAND it works actually with Locus also and esp. with Oruxmaps.
What do we have to do once brouter is installed?
First we have to click somewhere in the map and define a waypoint called "from", second to click one more time and define a waypoint called "to". After that we must change to brouter and start it, at end massage we must change back to oruxmaps and open the route "brouter.shn". That's it!
Brouter's routes are really amazing, best bicyle routes I've ever seen.
Perhaps it's possible to integrate brouter that way, leaving and reentering aren't necessary any more.

Re: Offline bicyle routes with brouter
This is really cool, thanks. Works great.
Finally a way to plan quality new routes with waypoints while on the go. I don't know of any other app that can do this (even online).
Installation is straightforward if you follow the instructions in the readme.
Neat feature: "It supports via and nogo-points"
I will enjoy playing around with the routing profiles.

Hi,
nice tool!
added in last beta-->www.oruxmaps.com/cs
direct route download:
route button--search route, select two points, then select BRoute (offline).
BRoute must be installed and started as a server previously to the search.
Plesae, tell me if it works.

Re: Offline bicyle routes with brouter
Confirmed working on my device. Great!
Advantages of manually starting brouter:
I just noticed that if you use the cloudmade routing you get waypoints with turn directions. Thats a pretty cool feature.
Advantages of manually starting brouter:
- Via waypoint support
- Possible to select profile
- I like the corny route finding animation

Re: Offline bicyle routes with brouter
Orux is faster than lightning... WOW!!
Checked it in virtual machine a couple of times, great!
Until now I didn't notice that cloudmate was on the run, I should give it a try.
Suggestions for the future:
- waypoints
- possibility to save it as track or similar so one can get detailed information (statistics, graphs)
At time you get only lenght with "internal" routing, with "external" routing you get height etc, too.
With saved tracks you get graphs also.

You must select the profile for the running server before entering the routing option but I fear you will miss the animationRandyBobandy wrote:[*]Possible to select profile

Hi, thanks!
You can export the route as gpx/kml/kmz; tap the created wpt at the init of the route. Then you can import the file to oruxmaps database, correct altitudes,...
But I am going to add 'automatic altitude correction' if the points do not include altitude, using DEM files, if exists.
And try with via and nogo points.
