Hi

I know this is a little of-topic on a Orux forum, but maybe some Orux users can help me.
I have a HTC Lengend and the GPS on that is very precise, stable og gives small values for expected position errors.
I have been looking for a replacement for the HTC Legend, But until now I have only seen android phones where til GPS position is unstable and jitters around about 50 to 100 meters, while the expected position error jumps from lets say around 8 meter to 80 meters. On the HTC Legend it goes down to 3 meters and stays there.
Until now I have tested:
HTC Desire
Sony Xperia Active
Samsung Galaxy.
It has beaten me that all the new phones I have tested are running Android 2.3 but my 'old' HTC Legend run Android version 2.2 --are there some clue in that ???

Please give replies how your accurate your Android GPS are, so I can find out which to test and which to avoid.
If anybody has an idea of some special setup in Android 2.3 that makes the GPS stable I would love to hear Very Happy

I've had good luck running OruxMaps on a Motorola Droid 2X. I often upload the GPX files to OpenStreetMap (the map that anyone can edit)--and they seem quite accurate.

A little off-topic: Which Android phones has accurate GPS Empty Tested

I tested Samsung Galaxy Tab 7", and the accuracy + fix time (without any telephone card) is pretty good.
I experienced also several Nokia models (not recent ones), and the accuracy + fix was poor (without assisted gps).
Tested Nokia 5800 XM, C5.
The accuracy of latest Samsung models is comparable to external GPS-Logger Sirf Star III based.
Used for hiking (recording tracks).

A little off-topic: Which Android phones has accurate GPS Empty Galaxy S2

... is very accurate (even betther than the S1). All tracks are written directly inside the road of a map with zoom-level 19.
Without cell-connection the fix is done within 1-5 minutes (depends on the distance of the last fix), with the cell-connection faster than 1 minute. Also in the forest the accuracy ist very good and never lost it`s connection.
