logging speed in hz
I am using an external bluetooth unit to save batteries. It works, but I want more and I am considering a Qstarz qt-1000 ex unit. It is a costy one.
it can get 10 fixes per second (yeah I cycle FAST ) but can only LOG at most 5 points per seconds
Would orux maps be able to log all those 10 fixes per second? Or, is that dependent by the phone, or even by the bluetooth driver? I now remember that orux has its builtin driver yeah.
So, would be such an investment too big for orux or could I exploit it? Thanks!

Hi, febs;
OruxMaps manages the points as fast as they are received from the BT device, if you set 'minimal time' to 0 seconds.
Usually this happens every second, I don't know faster devices.

Which external GPS to buy to use with Oruxmaps?
Here's a super fast one!
http://www.qstarz.com/Products/GPS%20Products/BT-Q1000EX-10HZ-F.html
Some features:
* Ultra lower power consumption up to 42hrs operation (under Log rate 1Hz)
That is much! A user on Amazon confirmed the 42 hrs of battery life. I need battery life!
* Less than 15-Sec. AGPS fix support
* high sensitivity -165dBm and 66-Channel
* Support up to 10Hz High Speed logging mode (Log 10 times per second)
Isn't that amazing? One of those, combined with a long-lasting android phone (even with resistive screen, who cares) would be a perfect pair.
Being andoid phone batteries not long lasting though, I am considering this in alternative to the previous one: http://www.semsons.com/gebgwablgpsd.html
Symilar battery life (41 hrs) but with a screen (!) with basic features.
So I could transfer data to Orux and when the phone dies (it always do) keep having a GPS unit. Although not cartographic, and with a log every second.
The chance to log as fast as ten times per seconds is not really necessary but it's sexy
What do you think about it?
What is your opinion about these devices? Or, do you have any other recommendations?
The first has MTK chipset, the second Sirf III. Which is better?
Secondary question: If I ever stumble across a device that also offers barometric altimeter via bluetooth, Oruxmaps would support that?
Thanks!!
