on beta 5.1.0beta2, I got the composite map feature to work with no problem--using TopoOSM USA maps. (And looked great!) But when I zoom between layers, the app crashes. Doesn't seem to matter which map I'm using.

Now on 5.1.0beta 4. All's well. Love the USGS topos!

Update: My Motorola Droid x2 crashed twice running 5.1.0beta 4. Went back to 5.0.00; no further crashes.

Further update: ran 5.1.0beta 5 on a 2-hour hike. Perfect: glitch-free.
