OruxMaps should work fine with Polar bluetooth heart rate monitors.

But you need an android 2.0 or upper version.

I do not know, I guess that you do not have a native version of android +2.0 installed in your hero. May be a custom rom; right?

Do you have an external GPS antenna for testing? They use the same BT protocol.

I have two HTC Hero.
Its called there Firmware-Version:
1. VillainROM 9.0.0
2. 2.1-update

But what can I do know?

I've a Problem with an Polar IWL HR Belt in combination with an Samsung Galaxy S2 and Oruxmaps! First, Sportstracker works fine with the HRB and the Battery Status is about 75%! Now the Problem:
The HRB is connectet an known by my SGS2 (Android 2.3.4) and is shown without any Probs in Sportstracker. Now i Start Orux and go to the Menu HRM and choose my HRB, which is shown as known tool. When i start the online/offlinemaps and record a track (pushing Rec.HRM) there is no HR anymore! Even in the Stats, the HR button is greyed out. Can anyone Help me?

PS: Sometimes Orux freezes if i push the "Rec. HRM" Butten for long time!

Do you see a green heart in the status bar when you 'Rec. HRM'?

Remember to activate the heart rate monitor controls in 'user interface - dashboard - user interface'.

No, i see nothing in the Status bar. Only the GPS Symbol starts. If you mean the menupoints "Anzeige - Anzeigemenü - Anzeige - Anzeige im Infobereich" (sorry for using the German words), then i've checked al tabs for HR! It seems, that orux freezes when will connect to the HRB (Theres an Error from Android, that the Application needs to much time and it asks me if i will determine or wait).

I would be very interested in heart rate monitoring with the polar belt. Before I buy one - these are not cheap - I would like to know if Oruxmaps works with this belt.
Other question: will there be a feature for calculation of calorie?

I just got a polar bluetooth belt and is working fine with oruxmaps

Since the new Update my HR-Belt works also fine!
