Mobac removal of some maps
I found OruxMaps via another Map app and using Mobac, OruxMaps was listed in the Mobac Help files and a great find.
I recently found that Mobac have an upgrade to V1.9 but they have removed all but maps based on OpenStreetMap data. This is a big dismantlement as one of the main benefits of using Mobac to create maps was the access to the Ordnance Survey maps.
The maps were removed from Mobac V1.9.2 does anyone know if the newer versions can be modified so I can still access the Ordnance Survey maps?
Alternativley does anyone have a copy of the Mobac V1.9.1 available?
Irrespective of the loss of ordnance Survey maps, I will still continue using OruxMaps.

Hi;
sure you can use all the old maps with MOABC; you only need to configure some xml files.

Hi r_x,
I saw this but can't see how to define the maps I want in the XML file, can you point me in the right direction?
Keith.

Hi, Keith;
an example; copy this in a file, any name, with extension .xml, inside /mapsource/ MOBAC directory.
<customMapSource>
<name>Custom OS 10k StreetView</name>
<minZoom>6</minZoom>
<maxZoom>17</maxZoom>
<tileType>png</tileType>
<tileUpdate>None</tileUpdate>
<url>http://os.openstreetmap.org/sv/{$z}/{$x}/{$y}.png</url>
<backgroundColor>#000000</backgroundColor>
</customMapSource>

Re: Mobac removal of some maps
here is a version, http://www.2shared.com/file/6MLqtBH0/MOBAC_19_preview_13_add_maps.html
(watch out for the add interceptor when grabbing this link) (also dont hit the big "click me" download button at 2shared, it is for fools , use the one that says Save file to your PC)
if they are going to cut stuff off, mabey it would be unwise to run the update thing for providers? but so far all it did was Add more providers with this version, just so you know.
I have no idea if OSM is one of them?? it just has a load of them.

Re: Mobac removal of some maps
Thanks for the advice;
I created the XML file as you suggested Orux but I couldn't find the map when I opened Mobac. Not sure what I am doing wrong?
Thanks for the link Psycogeek, this appears to have the maps I need so will use for now however it would be good to see if I can get it to work with the .XML file for future reference.
*Edit*
I changed the suffix from .XML to .xml and it worked, the only problem I have now is finding where the URL for the map data for the Ordnance Survey maps is?
Keith.

The file--> http://www.oruxmaps.com/mapa2.xml
It is a regional map, only works over UK.

Re: Mobac removal of some maps
Orux, I'm not sure if your post crossed with the edit of my last post?
That just returns "Custom OS 10k StreetView 6 17 png None http://os.openstreetmap.org/sv/{$z}/{$x}/{$y}.png #000000" in the browser.
I can view the map the .xml file I created points to, I'm trying to get it to point to an Ordnance Survey map now rather than an OpenStreetmap.

Sure you are using IE
You have to 'right button', 'save as' the xml.
Sorry, but I can not find the OS url source in the source code of mobac that I have in my computer.
