How can I use a map like berlin-0.2.4.map now on Oruxmaps?
Is it described anywhere?

Hi, Uli;

Create a new folder in mapfiles/ folder, put any .map there, 'restart map sources'.

You have vectorial maps here --> ftp://ftp.mapsforge.org/maps/europe/

Obviously I still get something wrong.
As you told me , I created a folder "VectorMaps" in the
Orux Mapfolder.
Then I did load a map "berlin-0.2.4.map" into that folder
and then clicked "reset map sources".
But my map does not apear in the offline maplist.
What does the second file "berlin-0.2.4.map.md5" mean?

Hi, Uli;

put the folder inside your maps folder (oruxmaps/mapfiles/ by default)

only the .map file, do not worry about the .md5 file; it is only needed if you want to check if the download was right, but you need another tool.

I'm sorry but no success so far.
I did all you wrote:

When I start oruxmaps, click maps offline, I see "VectorMaps", click it and see "Berlin".
But if I click "Berlin" nothing happens.
If I'm not mistaken, in green letters the Berlin-0.2.4 should appear?
Sorry again for the trouble but I do not like to give up.

Hmmm,

this map is correct; download, working fine -->ftp://ftp.mapsforge.org/maps/europe/germany/berlin-0.2.4.map

0.-check that you are using .14 beta
1.-download it from above link
2.-copy it inside your berlin/ folder, nothing else.
3.-open offline selector view, click 'reset map sources', open >berlin folder

Sorry sorry,
but your hint was right.
I used version 4.1.4
It is in my list the last file.
So no I see "Berlin" but when I click
there is only a white square on the screen.
I think I go to bed first and try again tomorrow.

do not worry.

zoom till a deeper zoom level, Berlin should appear.

maps are a great help.
Oruxmaps is my most important app.

Uli, actually you don't really have to create a new folder (even though that makes sense)

I also have Locus pro installed on my DHD and Locus is also using Vector maps.
> in orux maps I've selected this folder with the "Locus Vector Maps" as default folder for the map files and oruxmaps has no problem getting the maps from there > having one folder with the vector maps on your device is enough

Of course, if you are only using one Nav App (Orux) then it makes more sense to xreat a Vector maps folder in the oruxmaps file tree.

Oruxmaps shows 1 GByte vector map without a problem.
It is a real joy to use Oruxmaps with this maps.

thank you brother its clear my mind some thing, Does anybody know what the differences are and how can i tell if I have the beta firmware or if I have the regular 4.1 firmware


Appliance Business

To tell which version of Oruxmaps you are using select the 'Oruxmaps' icon at the top left of the screen when viewing a map and then select 'about'.

Does this mean that we can expect option to load gpx or kml with number of tracks to be displayed as map overlay? That would be really useful.

I do not even need routing or such, just simple display of routes and waypoints in specific area over the currently selected map.
