Mapsforge California map => forced close

I have created many offline maps which work very well. Today I downloaded the Mapsforge California map (467 MB!). I created a "California" file folder in the MapFiles directory on the 16 MB SD card of my Motorola Droid. OruxMaps opens the file at "0". Paging up results in a lock up at "6" or "7" with a forced close notification. Has anyone successfully downloaded and used this map?

There are problems with that map;

I think it is not an OruxMaps problem, because the others work fine.

Orux: Thanks for your reply. Strangely, over the course of approximately 6 hrs. after the download, the access to the map gradually improved, and now I have essentially full use of it. I can't understand why.
On another note, I apologize for posting this in the Spanish language section. On my computer I navigated to the English "General" forum and posted there but it showed up in the Spanish section. Randall
