area calculation

Hi,

how does the area calculation tool work? I create a new track: a rectangular with the length of 2,5km and 2,8km. That should be an area of 7 mio square meter. But Orux tells me that are only 12550m². Why is that? I am using the newest version (in german).

at first: Decimal Degree, now UTM, no difference. I changed this in settings/units. Right?

Hmm,

No, I was talking about the original map projection (Mercator, UTM,...).

But may be there is a bug, wait,....

google maps/online. so it is WGS84/geographic

Ok,

It is working fine if you are using an UTM map (not UTM coordinates format, it is not the same).

But it is not working fine with 'Mercator' maps (for example, all online maps are Mercator).

It will work fine in next beta (may be tomorrow).
