Cursor direction

Could someone please explain me what is a cursor direction when map is in driving direction mode. it is a little bit strange that arrow cursor is pointing for example to the right when map is moving down (direction mode).

Is the following the intended behavior in version 4.8.36?

The cursor is always pointing UP and not in the direction of travel (even with tracking / recording enabled). (I'm using "normal" or "North Up" map orientation.)
In order to show the direction of travel, I have to enable Compass always visible" which then shows the yellow "field of view" triangle.
