How can I read the altitude of a point on the map?

Why can't I measure the elevation of a point on the map? I do not know something? I brought the files *. hgt in the DEM and the 3D view works. Thanks.

Hi;

if you want to see the control; settings--user interface--dashboard--user interface, then check the 'altitude from DEM' control.
