Uli,
Thanks for the quick response. The Zephyr is rechargeable - this is an advantage.
But on the oruxmaps homepage is written: Do not use Zephyr monitor with OruxMaps, not supported in next versions.

Really? I didn't read that.
That would be a pity.
I just have it for a year and it wasn't cheap.
Let's see what Orux says to this.

Hi, Uli;

I am angry with Zephyr. They are reneging on the agreement we made 2 years ago.

It's not about money, because OruxMaps supports other heart rate monitors and there is no agreement with the manufacturers. But they can not promise something and then not fulfill it.

But do not worry, although I planned to ask to the users in the next version to write down a letter of protest, in the end I will not do.

OruxMaps will continue to support the current version of Zephyr. But I will not recommend this product anymore.

With regards to your anouncement, I will complain
at Zephyr.
I do understand you. It's a tough market.

Phew, I'm glad that you will continue supporting the Zephyr. I only bought it 6 months ago and would hate to see my money wasted or not be able to use Oruxmaps any more. Out if interest, was it a commercial agreement that Zephyr are reneging on or a technical one? I ask because I wonder if there is a point in the future where you may find it impossible to continue supporting the Zephyr HRM.

They promise a fee for each sale of heart rate monitor if we do advertising. This is what they have failed.

Not a tecnical problem. While the API for reading the data from the device is public, there will be no problems.

I suspected it was a commercial issue. It's a shame when a company becomes so short sighted or greedy. I've seen this many times, a newish company uses affiliates or partners to help promote their product only for them to refuse to pay the commissions to the affiliates because their product starts becoming popular and they suddenly feel they don't need any partners any more. The correct thing to have done was to pay you what you were owed and then say the agreement is terminated from that point on.

Hi, thanks;

The current version works with these devices:
Polar Bluetooth
Zephyr HXM

Partially:
Sports tracker bluetooth
Ant + devices (if your phone Supports That protocol)

I read in some forums, that the defy chip would support ANT+ protocol. But motorola hasn't written drivers for their phones (yet?).

Hi Orux,

I'm about to buy a HRM to use with Oruxmaps. Both the Polar and Zephyr are not my favourites, I'd rather buy the Sports Tracker.
Can you elaborate on the partial support for the Sports Tracker? What features are missing?

Thanks!
