Barometer on Note II
Thanks for the OruxMaps, this is a great aplication!
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note II. I found a problem: when the screen is locked the barometer goes to sleep and the altitude of every points will be equal, until the screen is reactivated. OruxMaps keeps the GPS awake, but not the barometer. Would be very good to get a solution.
I would apriciate answer in a direct mail, not in the Forum.
Thanks:

In version 4.8.61

device is Galaxy Note 2

Re: Barometer on Note II
Hi,
You may want to try this.
"In the new version 4.8.61 if you do it the same way, the altidude will not record it will stay at your starting elevation and shows zero climbing.
But if you go to settings/GPS and tick BAROMETER FOR ELEVATION off and on, then start record, the Barometer will work correct.
You can even do this during recording (off/on) and the Barometer starts to work correct, with your calibrated elevation plus the meters you allready climbed."
Happy Holidays

Sorry, does not help.

strange, seems to only happen with the Note?
working fine with my sg3.
OruxMaps does not sends to sleep the barometer if recording a track, I'm 100% sure!
I can build a logger version to see if oruxmaps turn off the barometer,

missunderstanding
To be more precise, this bug exists only with Note II. Barometer is perfectly working with Note I or S3.
The problem is not at all, that OruxMaps send the barometer to sleep, but the problem is that OruxMaps does not prevent the Barometer to go to sleep if the screen is switched off.

Hi;
Applications must register/unregister listeners; android should keep the sensor active if there are registered listeners, whether the screen is on or off.
That's how the other sensors works. I have found nothing different for the pressure sensor in the android documentation.
Why only occurs in NOTE 2?

Re: Barometer on Note II
hi orux thank you very much for the quick answer.
Please, if you need help for testing the app on the note 2 just tell me.
I think I could try another app that's using note 2 barometer and see what happens whe the screen is turned off.
thank you orux and let me know if you need help in testing.

Re: Barometer on Note II
So far, on Note II, none of the applications can keep the barometer alive if the screen is off.
On Note II some special work around is needed. I would very much appreciate it.
